11 Years of Success: How Hakki Pilke Machines Empower Matti Sairanen’s Firewood Business
Matti Sairanen has been a firewood entrepreneur for 11 years. He took his first step into the firewood business in 2013 when he acquired his first Hakki Pilke firewood processor, the Easy 38, which marked the beginning of his firewood business. Over the years, Hakki Pilke machines have become essential to Matti’s firewood production, and today, he is already using his third Hakki Pilke machine. Matti has always sourced his firewood processors from the Lantmännen Agro store in Ylivieska.
Each year, Matti produces around 700–800 cubic meters of firewood. Thanks to satisfied customers who spread the word, he hardly needs to invest in marketing—word of mouth has done the job well. As a result, nearly 100 cubic meters are already reserved for spring deliveries. In addition to producing his own firewood, Matti also works on-site at customers’ properties, processing wood either on location or transporting it to his workstation for handling.
The newly arrived Hakki Pilke 43 Pro is an excellent addition to Matti’s equipment, which includes a HakkiFeed 472 hydraulic log table and the Hakki Pilke Roller for cleaning. The Roller’s disc rollers effectively separate debris from the firewood, allowing the firewood to dry faster and resulting in a high-quality final product. This equipment combination is specifically designed to meet the demanding production needs of professional users like Matti, and the new machine has already proven to be highly efficient and fast.
For Matti, Hakki Pilke stands out from competitors due to its reliability, efficiency, and low maintenance requirements. Having the factory nearby and receiving spare parts quickly is important to him, ensuring that work continues smoothly without interruptions. The versatility of Hakki Pilke machines and their comprehensive blade options are also critical. A wide selection of blades is essential for handling large logs.
In the firewood business, Matti values the freedom it offers. He can work at his own pace and according to customer needs. His services also include felling trees on customer properties. Matti splits the biggest yard trees into firewood using the HH 110 hydraulic splitter, producing about 150–200 cubic meters each year. With HH110 hydraulic splitter maximum log diameter is 800 mm. According to Matti, the splitter is quick and easy to use, with its own lifter that simplifies handling large logs. First, the log is split into rough sections and then into smaller pieces. The hydraulic splitter can use a four-way or six-way splitting blade, making the process adaptable.
Matti’s dedication and expertise have earned him a loyal customer base, and Hakki Pilke’s reliable and efficient machines have been a crucial part of his success in the firewood industry.
